Rediscover Clean is built on a single, slightly contrarian idea: that a hospital should be held to the same standards of cleanliness, warmth, and guest experience as a luxury hotel. It's the reason we exist. But it isn't a new idea for our founder — it's one David Green has been putting into practice for decades.

Back in February 2013, IEHA's Executive Housekeeping Today magazine profiled David in a feature titled "The Hospitality of Health Care." At the time, he was Director of Environmental Services at Cleveland Clinic's main campus — 26 buildings, more than 1,200 beds, roughly six million square feet, and a 600-person EVS team.

What made the story worth telling wasn't the scale. It was where David came from. He didn't start in healthcare. He started as a bellhop at a resort in Kentucky, then spent years honing his craft at hotels including the Ritz-Carlton, Peabody, Hilton, Omni, and Renaissance. When he moved into hospital environmental services, he didn't leave the hospitality mindset behind — he brought it with him.

His philosophy came down to four words he repeated throughout that profile: "It's all about people." Whether the setting was a hotel or a hospital, he saw the job the same way — take genuine care of your team, and they'll take genuine care of the guest, or the patient.

That approach produced results. Under David's leadership, Cleveland Clinic ranked in the 90th percentile among large hospitals for cleanliness, courtesy, and HCAHPS scores, and he was named the Clinic's Caregiver of the Year in 2010. He also pushed the department toward sustainability, partnering to write green cleaning guidelines and expanding daytime cleaning to cut energy use.

More than a decade later, that same conviction is the foundation of Rediscover Clean. We help luxury hospitality and healthcare organizations apply hotel-grade standards to their environmental services — because the person checking into a hospital deserves the same care as the guest checking into a five-star resort.

As David put it back then, people don't always give housekeepers the credit they deserve — but everyone wants to be part of something bigger than themselves. Building that "something bigger," across every facility we work with, is exactly what Rediscover Clean sets out to do.
